Beauty That Never Fades

We spend a lot of money and time on hair, nails, skin, clothing, and dressing ourselves. 1 Peter 3:3-4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. ⁴ Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.My grandma used to say, “Pretty is as pretty does.”

It Is Written

EPHESIANS 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Presence

Inward beauty matters more than outward appearance. No amount of external effort can hide a discontented heart. Those of us raised in dysfunction must fight for inner contentment and let go of the past to embrace what has been done for us through Jesus Christ. In Him, we find peace, unconditional love, joy, acceptance, patience, kindness, mercy, grace, and rest. Abiding in Him clothes us in His likeness. Nothing compares.

Prayer

Lord, You are the one who pursues us. Revelation 3:20 says, "You stand at the door and knock." All we need to do is open the door and let You come and dwell in our hearts. It is in and through You that transformation begins. In You, our souls find rest, contentment, and home. You stand at the end of the road, awaiting Your prodigals, and run to us as we journey home. Thank You for not giving up on us. Dress us in the beauty of Your holiness and change us from glory to glory that does not fade. Help us to preach Your gospel wherever we go, and, if necessary, use words.
