All believers in Christ are part of one body–the body of Christ. He is the head, and we are the members. Each of us has a specific role. The Holy Spirit assigns these roles to build one another up until we all come to the full knowledge of God. That means we are all important to one another. We are all dependent on one another.
It Is Written
1 PETER 2:5 You also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a
holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus
Christ.
Only the Head Rules
Jesus Christ is the head, and it’s our job to submit to Him. None of us is more important than the other. We were created for a relationship with God and with one another. Everyone plays an important part. There are free online spiritual gift tests. You can’t do your part without knowing what it is. Do you know your part? Are you doing your job?
Prayer
Lord, help me grasp that I am part of one large body, your universal church. You created me and assigned me spiritual gifts to equip your body. Help me take personal responsibility for knowing the gifts You have given me and the role I am to play in building up Your body.
Takeaway
I am part of the body of Christ, and I have a family.
