Is Death Final?

People believe all kinds of things about death. You only need to bring up the subject to find differing beliefs about what happens when we die. Some say that when we die, that is the end and there is nothing afterward. Others believe in reincarnation and are born over and over as other things, such as a dog or another human. Scriptures say that death is not final. There is more to come.

It Is Written

MATTHEW 25:46 These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

1 JOHN 5:11-23  And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The Book of Life

The book of Matthew tells us there are two eternal places, eternal life and eternal punishment. I wouldn’t want anyone I know and love to go to eternal punishment. The book of 1 John tells us that the one who has Jesus is the source of eternal life. I surrendered my life to Him when I was just twelve, the day I met unconditional love.

Prayer

Lord, we have all sinned and followed our own ways. I thank You that in Your great mercy, You provided a way of forgiveness and salvation for us through Jesus Christ. I thank You that surrendering our lives to Him holds the promise of eternal life. I look forward to a grand reunion with those who have gone before us, who lived for You, wrote songs and books, and shared testimonies of Your great love for us. Thank You for providing a way to eternal life through Jesus.

Takeaway

Death is not final
