Predestined
By Paula Williamson, guest writer
God, the author and creator of the universe, had a wonderful plan for us all before He spoke the world into existence. He also gave us the freedom to choose. Yes, His plans were and are good, but we play a vital role in this life through every decision we make. We can live independent of Him, doing our own thing, or we can surrender our lives to Him and His good plan for us. The power of choice is ours.
It Is Written
EPHESIANS 1:4 -6 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will — 6praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
PROVERBS 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
What Will We Choose?
His plan is good; it is one He had in mind before He spoke the world into existence, and He offers it to all of us. He also knew we would sin and need a Savior. Nothing was a surprise to Him. In His good plan, He sent Jesus to secure our adoption into His family, but we choose His plan or do our own thing. By choosing our own way, we choose to serve ourselves as God and reject His good plans for us. There is no fence-sitting with feet in both worlds. When we choose one, we reject the other.
Prayer
Lord, this world is full of eye candy, distractions, and noise. Help us step off the treadmill and march to the beat of Your drum. Help us live for an audience of one. Your plans are good. Help us seek You and know You more each day. In a world full of choices, may we choose You.
Takeaway
Every decision matters.
